Participants must read and agree to the Participation Notifications and Terms & Conditions, before taking part. Please get in touch with IF with any questions or concerns regarding participation.
- Participants must be over the age of 18; children may only take part under the close supervision of a responsible adult, who will form the point of contact for project communications, and submission of information. The personal details and images of children must not be shared without the permission of parents or guardians.
- Private data will not be shared without permission; submission of survey results and other information and data relating to buildings and other sites, confers permission to share limited location information in the public domain. This will take the form of the street / road and village / town name, but not building number / name; or in isolated locations, the name of the nearest settlement (unless otherwise preferred).
- No illegal activities may comprise, or be carried out as part of, project participation. Participants must have the permission of the property owner / tenant, and / or business / institution / organisation owner / manager / officer, as appropriate, to carry out surveys, and submit data, and / or other information. It is the responsibility of participants to identify, and obtain permission from, the relevant owner / tenant / other individual.
- (The) IF project leader(s) will be unable to supervise most individual, group and corporate participation; IF cannot provide insurance cover for most project activities undertaken by such participants. While attempts will be made to highlight potential hazards, participants take part and contribute at their own risk.
- IF research does not incorporate excavation, and does not recommend or advocate that project participants carry out this or other forms of damage or disturbance of ancient or historic features, buildings, sites, or monuments, or associated materials and / or deposits. Such activities may be illegal, and risk destroying vital archaeological evidence. They should not be carried out by inexperienced persons, and must employ professional standards throughout; and must not take place without the required preparations and permissions.
- Discoveries will be acknowledged (unless anonymity is preferred), with location information in the public domain restricted to the criteria outlined above, 2. (unless otherwise preferred / permission otherwise granted).
- IF reserves the right not to publish data and / or other information and contributions submitted to the project.
- IF does not offer any professional service, such as, but not limited to, surveys, recording, excavation, identification, conservation, or valuation.
